Pronounced po-LEET-sa; the name is Polish for ‘policy’ or ‘urgent action’. However the band is not Polish, but from the Pacific Northwest. Bon Iver also lives there. The vocal styles are similar, and Justin Vernon reportedly pops about 5 boners a day for Poliça, saying “They’re the best band I’ve ever heard.”
